Maintains and repairs on a day to day basis all Grand River Transit (GRT) buses and vehicles, including diesel, gasoline powered vans, and related service trucks.
Ability to follow/knowledge of, corporate policies/procedures and legislation related to vehicle servicing (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, Highway Traffic Act).
Knowledge of on-board vehicle computerized equipment and associated test equipment, as well as Voith, ZF and Allison transmission diagnostics and repair.
You have a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification,or registered apprentice, are skilled in using a laptop to perform systems diagnostics on coaches, and possess all hand tools applicable to the trade. In addition to Grade 12, you have 2 years of related experience repairing DDEC and Cummins engines and WTEC and ZF/Voith transmissions, as well as welding with gas and MIG.
Ability to read and follow maintenance manuals, parts books, wiring diagrams, and inspection procedures. Ability to write MTO and preventive maintenance inspection reports, and maintain hand tools in safe operating condition is essential.
Must hold a valid Class DZ driver's license and acceptable driving record to operate Regional vehicles.
Must provide an acceptable Police Information Check (Level 2) for bondability.
For this role, you should be prepared to work straight shifts, including days, afternoons, nights and weekends, as well as transfer to other transit locations
